How Much Medium Paid me in my First Month Writing…
I started writing on Medium on November 2nd 2023 (first article below).
Why? Well, apart from loving writing, I had some shocking news from my previous employer. So I kind of needed to…
Then I realised I had fallen back in love with writing & decided to pursue it properly.
What does properly mean though, I hear you ask? Posting daily (30 days in November, but I started on the 2nd, so my target was 29. I ended up with 26 — not bad!), engaging with accounts (tick) & getting at least one story published on a publication (tick — below).
Okay, so I’m going strong. What next?
Well, I shared to my network on LinkedIn (over 10,000 followers — this helps! I also joined an active Facebook group dedicated to Medium (details below). While there are some con-artists there who want you to read their stories but don’t reciprocate genuinely, the majority are genuine and offer some interesting reads.
This resulted in over 600 views, 58 new followers & 5 email subscribers.
Okay, admittedly, it’s not ‘quit your job’ numbers, but it’s a good start. The consistency and discipline paid off. As well as interesting stories — they certainly helped!
Here are the numbers:
So…HOW MUCH?
Okay, fair enough — I’ve been keeping you waiting long enough.
Medium, for my first month on November, paid me a grand total of:
$29.64
Again, it’s not going to pay the mortgage. HOWEVER, this is a phenomenal amount for my first month. It can take some people two to three years to earn any money on YouTube, so earning anything in my first month on this medium (pun intended) is nothing short of amazing!
You read & watch a lot of ‘make money online’ nonsense, but this is actually legitimate. It feels great writing this! So you can make money too!
My Top 5 Highest Earning Articles
If you’ve not read my writing before, I publish stories on AI & how it can benefit your life and my own creative writing.
The data above tells its own story. “That One Picture” seemed to resonate as it’s a personal story of heartbreak, loss and overcoming difficulty. This was a tough one to write as I’ve never been an open person with my emotions. Felt great telling it though…
What will I do for December then? Listen to the data, continue writing personal stories and releasing my creative bits, whilst still educating all on AI & how it can help.
