The 1 Thing All Wannabe Authors Do That Stops Them From Writing A Bestseller
They say time kills all deals.
“But that’s only for business deals,” I hear you smugly respond, wasting yet more time consuming, instead of creating.
Let me say it loudly for those in the back.
It certainly applies to writing, too.
Now this article won’t be for authors that have already gone through this journey and are enjoying the fruits of their labour on the other side. No. THIS article is for the writers out there that do that one thing that prevents them from succeeding as a writer and getting their hands on that ever elusive book deal…
PROCRASTINATE.
We’ve all done it and some of us admit to doing it. I’ll be the first here to hold my hand up and say that I’ve procrastinated, but I can now spot the signs and put a stop to it. Can you?
Some will read this and say they don’t procrastinate and every email they must respond to or extra hour spent ‘researching’ to make sure their next chapter is ‘perfect’ is benefitting their writing. But if nothing is being written or you’ve taken 3 attempts at NaNoWriMo to finish 50,000 words…something isn’t right.
Okay, I know this sounds harsh, but tough love is important sometimes.
And this time is important.
Writing a bestseller requires discipline, dedication, and a commitment to overcoming the allure of putting things off until tomorrow.
Why is overcoming procrastination crucial for writing a bestseller?
The answer lies in the power of consistency and discipline. Writing a book requires dedication and a consistent commitment to putting words on paper. When we procrastinate, we put off the work that needs to be done, and as a result, progress stalls. By overcoming procrastination, we can establish a writing routine, stay motivated, and make steady progress towards completing our manuscript.
“Procrastination is the thief of time.” — Edward Young
